At Classiques en Furniture, we love bringing unique furniture visions to life. Recently, we had the privilege of preparing a custom furniture proposal for Government House Sydney, showcasing exactly what can be achieved when traditional craftsmanship meets bespoke design.
Government House Sydney Interior
The Beauty of Made-to-Measure Furniture
One of the greatest advantages of custom furniture is that every piece can be designed around your space, your lifestyle, and your personal taste. Unlike mass-produced furniture, bespoke pieces are created specifically for you and can be reproduced or matched in the future, ensuring a cohesive look throughout your home for years to come.
This flexibility allows our clients to:
Create completely unique designs
Adjust dimensions to suit their space
Select finishes and details that reflect their style
Add matching pieces later with confidence
Government House Sideboard Design
Designing a Victorian Chiffonier
For this project, the client was seeking a substantial storage piece to house and hide computer equipment that would make a statement while remaining elegant and functional.
One of the unique aspects of this project was the attention to detail required to ensure the new chiffonier complemented the existing furniture within Government House Sydney. The client requested specific carved details to match other historic pieces already in the collection, helping the new cabinet feel as though it had always belonged in the space. Careful consideration was also given to the timber finish, with a custom stain selected to provide contrast against the existing timber floorboards while maintaining the room's elegant and traditional character. The result was a piece that honoured its surroundings while bringing practical new storage and functionality.

Victorian 6 Door Chiffonier
Dimensions:
Height: 90cm
Width: 300cm
Depth: 80cm
To make transport and installation easier, the chiffonier was designed as two separate units, creating the appearance of one seamless furniture piece while providing practical benefits.
Crafted from solid mahogany timber, the design combines traditional Victorian styling with generous storage capacity and the timeless character that only genuine timber furniture can provide.
A Piece Built to Last Generations
There is something special about solid timber furniture. Unlike furniture made from modern composite materials, a handcrafted mahogany chiffonier develops character over time and can become a treasured state heirloom.
